RTI activist alleges threat calls, seeks protection | | | Early Times Report Anantnag, May 4: Anantnag based RTI activist, Mushtaq Pahalgami, who has waged a battle against influential land mafia at Pahalgam, has complained of anonymous threatening calls. Pahalgami, who is also associated with Himalayan welfare organization Pahlgam told Early Times that he was receiving threat calls from different numbers and being threatened off dire consequences for exposing the irregularities in local civic body and other offices. "A caller identifying himself Gowher Ahmad called me several times and threatened me of dire consequences for highlighting public grievances and irregularities in the civic body," he said. Mushtaq said that he prefers to stay away from his native home during nights, fearing his safety. He said that many people including top officials have verbally conveyed to him to remain silent. Mushtaq has sought protection from local police and government. |
