HC issues contempt notices to CUJ VC, Registrar, others | | | Early Times Report
Srinagar, May 4 High court judge Dheeraj Singh Thakur has issued contempt notices to CUJ (Central University, Jammu) Vice-Chancellor Prof Ashok Aima, Registrar Jit Singh and Computer Sciences and IT HoD, Prof Devanand and directed them to file compliance report of the court's December 30, 2015 order. The court directive came in a contempt petition filed by Dr Namita Singh, assistant professor in the CUJ's Department of Computer Sciences and IT. Her counsel submitted that the high court had on December 30, 2015 directed that the petitioner, working on contractual basis in CUJ would not be replaced by others as contractual employee. He said the petitioner was forced to move court after the respondents did not assign her faculty, administrative or any other work as per previous routine. Even the petitioner's name had not figured in the CUJ's new time table and she was assigned to Ramji, a technical assistant. It was alleged that the respondents had started intimidating the petitioner by sending male security officials of the university to her so that she did not come to the campus. After hearing her counsel, the court issued notices to the respondents and directed them to file the compliance report. (JNF)
