Jammu, May 5: Public Awareness Front (PAF), Kishtwar, has expressed concern over the delay in widening of Kishtwar city road, asking Sunil Kumar Sharma, minister of state for transport, science and technology and roads and buildings, to fulfil his pre-poll promise in this regard. "The condition of Kishtwar city road from Malipath to Kuleed Chowk and the 2 km road stretch, that passes through the town here, is very bad and needs immediate attention," PAF alleged. PAF president Shakir Hussain Siddiqui demanded that the road widening be done and a parking lot be identified and developed at the earliest for the convenience of general public. He alleged that development works, including widening and upgradation of Hasti-Malipath road, were moving at snail's pace in the town. He said people were facing problems due to the delay in widening of Kishtwar city road which was taken in hand several years back. The road is important because the district hospital, police station, judiciary, DC office, PHE sub-division, PDD, ITI, Higher Secondary Schools for Girls and Boys, Degree College and other important offices are located by its side. He also demanded immediate widening of Batote-Kishtwar and Kishtwar-Sinthan roads and black-topping of all city and link roads of Kishtwar. He said due to the dilapidated condition of roads here, road accidents had been taking place every year, resulting in the loss of precious lives of people. Despite the assurance of the government to construct an alternative road, nothing had been done in this regard till date, he said and demanded construction of urinals from bus stand to Dakbanglow Chowk. |
