Jammu, May 5: 1st additional sessions judge, Jammu, M A Chowdhary today rejected bail application of two narco-smugglers. Tejinder Pal Singh and Sameer Ahmed were facing trial in the alleged smuggling of intoxicant capsules and corex bottles. As per police case, 864 capsules of proxyvon and 80 bottles of corex were recovered from Tejinder and 792 capsules and 70 bottles from Sameer Ahmed on October 30, 2015 by Gandhi Nagar police at Bikram Chowk during the search of the vehciles. The judge observed that keeping in view that the enactment of NDPS Act was to curb the ever increasing menace of drug peddling and illegal sale and its ramifications on the society and the youth in particular and cause for increase in the crime rate, nature and seriousness of accusation against the applicants, the character of evidence, circumstances which were peculiar to the accused and in larger interest of the society and state, no good ground was made out by the petitioner for bail. With these observations, the court rejected the bail. (JNF) |
