Early Times Report

Jammu, May 6: In the latest development of the alleged illegal construction along the Chowadhi-Sainik colony nullah, the Anti Corruption Court, taking cognizance of the Deputy Commissioner's report has said that the DC Jammu's inability to produce the Massavie of the said piece of land has raised question mark as the same is claimed to have been in possession of the DySP Shashi Thakur which is duly authenticated by the Revenue Department itself. However, the court has fixed May 23 as the next date of hearing.
Earlier, the Vigilance in its status report to court, recommended FIR against the Revenue officials for being in league with the alleged encroachers and stated that the revenue authorities have not provided a clear opening as all records provided by the concerned department go contradictory.
It further submitted that DC Jammu vide office letter No SSP/2016/HL/167/VOJ has been asked to provide a conclusive factual report at the earliest which is awaited.
Pertinently, the encroachment along Chowadhi-Sainik Colony gained momentum after ET in its series of publication tried to unearth the organized encroachments as right after ET 's reports, the Chief Minister's Secretariat sought interim report from the GAD and Commissioner of Vigilance on the news item published in Early Times titled " Vigilance Seizes Fake Latha of Chowadhi Area" on 6th of December, 2013 .
Early Times had published the said report when officers of State Vigilance Organization had seized the unauthenticated latha of Chowadhi area when a joint Revenue and Vigilance team had come to Chowadhi to demarcate the khasra number 887 and to find out if any encroachment had taken place along the Chowadhi-Sainik Colony Nallah.
The matter of encroachment was brought by the DySP Shashi Thakur who had alleged that one Zakir Hussain and Ashiq Hussain both sons of Qasim Din alias Gasha r/o Chatta at present Uttam Nagar Gangyal Jammu were carrying out the construction work in the nullaha/water body which has narrowed down the flow of the said nullaha from Sharma Resort to Haji Basti, which is not permissible under law.
