Kathua, May 23: The Excise Sleuths of Kathua Excise Range along with the Excise Eradication Wing Jammu conducted series of raids in district Kathua under the command of ETO, Kathua Excise Range, Sandeep Gupta, and ETO Eradication, Jammu Suresh Sharma to arrest the menace of illicit distillation of liqour.
The team conducted series of raids in villages Kokhyal, Jeerai, Chabachak, Sunjwan, Sharmaat, Jeerai and adjoining areas. In the process 1400 Kg Lahan, 111bottles and 333 pouches of illicit liquor prepared from Lahan, which is highly injurious to health, was recovered by the raiding team and later destroyed on spot. One person namely Gudoo wife of Om Prakash was arrested by the raiding team under J&K Excise Act, 1958.
The Department has initiated multi-pronged strategy to arrest the menace of illicit distillation of liqour. Inspection teams have been activated and there shall be no laxity for those who violate the law. |
