Kishtwar, May 23: Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM), Chatroo, Qazi Masood Ahmed has warned government employees, including teachers, to perform or face action. As per the details available with Early Times, the SDM today conducted a tour of various far flung areas of Chatroo and inspected schools, health centers, anganwari centers, CAPD stores and other government offices. During inspection of various schools, SDM, who was accompanied by officials and locals, was surprised to find that students of 2nd and 3rd standards were unable to read and spell the words 'cat' and 'elephant'. He warned the teachers concerned to bring the matter to the notice of higher authorities in case they did not improve the reading skills of students, official sources said. The SDM also held a public durbar at After inspection of government offices, a public darbar at Gurinal, Chatroo, which, among others, was attended by Chatroo tehsildar Irshad Ahmad Butt, Chatroo TSO Tariq Rasool Munshi and all sectoral officers of the sub-division. The locals apprised the SDM of different issues, particularly poor educational system, NAFSA, land acquisition and water crisis. Gurinal sarpanch Ghulam Qadir Sheikh hoped that the SDM's maidan visit would prove fruitful for the locals. The SDM assured people that all their issues and problems would be sorted out in a time bound manner and gave clear cut directions to all the officers and officials that any kind of negligence on their part in any routine work would not be tolerated. He asked officials to bring transparency in educational set up. Earlier, he inaugurated Aayush Medical camp at Mugalmaidan and interacted with people and health staff. He directed them to give preference on distribution of free medicines available in hospitals instead of prescribing medicines to be purchased from open market. "I have nothing personal against anyone. Instead of assuring that they will attend their duties, they want suspended employees to be reinstated," the SDM said. He told the people that he was not going to buckle under any pressure and added that in case the absentees did not change their habits, government would take stern action against them.
