Samba, May 24: Police today have arrested two persons alongwith huge consignment of opium (cannabis) worth Rs 5 Lakhs which was recovered from their possession during the naka at SIDCO Chowk, Samba. Police spokesperson said, "The accused have been identified as Om Parkash s/o Sodagar Mal of Bhamboo Chak, Ramgarh and Daljeet Singh s/o Darshan Singh of Model Town Digiana, Jammu." "Following a specific tip, police party of P/P SIDCO headed by Sub-Inspector Rajeshwar Singh, I/C PP SIDCO under the supervision of Varinder Singh, DySP (Hqrs) Samba and Inspector Sanjeev Chib SHO P/S Samba laid a naka at SIDCO Chowk, Samba, he said. During patrolling police team intercepted a truck bearing registration No. JK02AL-8977, he said adding, "during search of vehicle police recovered 6 packets of Opium (01 Kg each) of market value about Rs 5 lakhs, which they have kept beneath the driver seat of truck." "Accordingly, Case FIR No. 81/2016 u/s 8/15 NDPS Act has been registered at P/S Samba and investigation started," Police said. They said, "During interrogation, accused persons have deposed that they have made 5-6 deliveries of said contraband in the area and the instant consignment was taken from Siliguri, Assam." "Further investigation into the matter is going on and arrest of some more accused persons cannot be ruled out, he added. |
