Early Times Report

SRINAGAR, May 24: The transfer order of Principals issued by the Department of School Education last week has raised eyebrows since some glaring loopholes have come up in the whole process with fingers being pointed towards the role of Minister for Education in this whole 'fiasco'.
Sources told Early Times that principal of a Higher Secondary School in the summer capital was transferred since he raised objection over some of the recommendations made by Minister for Education Naeem Akhtar during his visit to the educational institution some time back.
"Some time back the Minister for Education visited M P Higher Secondary School for boys at Bagh-i- Dilawar Khan in downtown Srinagar. He asked the Principal Noor-un-Naeem Fazili to introduce co-education in the educational institute since the same would inculcate a sense of competition among the boys receiving education at the school," said sources.
Sources said that the Principal disproved the recommendation of Naeem and said that same is not possible since it would lead to serious ramifications as the school is located in one of the sensitive areas of downtown Srinagar. He also did not agree to the suggestion of Minister for Education that a canteen should be started in the school and that would be operated by the boys of the school.
"The principal opined that the starting of the canteen would lead to trouble and it may result into a situation where-in the boys might fall in the trap of drug addiction. The objections raised by the Principal did not go well with the concerned minister and he ordered for the transfer of the Principal. As such Fazili was transferred to a school in Batwina-Ganderbal and some other people were transferred as well," said sources while quoting the Government Order 172 of 2016 dated 17-05-2016.
By virtue of the same order the department has created an 'exclusive' position for a blue-eyed official. The said official has been posted as Officer on Special Duty (OSD) in District Institute of Education and Trainings (DIET) Srinagar. The said official would act as Nodal Officer for the modernization of DIET Srinagar so that it becomes as model DIET.
"The order reads that Principal GHSS Khan Sahib Ghulam Rasool Wani shall hold the additional charge of Deputy CEO Ganderbal. This is quite ridiculous since how can a person hold these two charges since the places are located at a distance of more than 60 kilometres. Anything is possible in the school education department and same has happened through this order," said sources.
The transfer order did not touch the Principal of Government Higher Secondary School, Wathoora in Budgam district. It has been learnt from sources that the present principal is posted there for four years and he has not been transferred during all these years for the reasons known to the people at helm.
