Appeals Yasin Malik to spare him

Early Times Report

srinagar, May 24: Following persistent bashing by Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front, Chairman, Muhammad Yasin Malik, the senior PDP Minister , has finally played card to appease Malik's rivals in the separatist camps.
The PDP minister now openly appreciates firebrand separatist leader Syed Ali Geelani, for latter's "contribution towards the society."
Though Geelani was often accused of having a "soft corner" for the Peoples Democratic Party and even "helped the party to win elections", it is for the first time in the recent past that a PDP leader has openly expressed his love for the pro-Pakistan hawk.
Insiders said it was not any accidental statement but that PDP Minister had done proper groundwork on the plan to appreciate Geelani. "It was pre-planned that he would appreciate Geelani at the Sopore function and this was why he had taken some of his well-wishers from civil society along to north Kashmir so that the word of appreciation for pro-freedom leadership spreads like wild fire and the PDP leader gets some separatist support," the insiders said.
They said even the timing was "well planned". Sources said the the PD Minister , who has some of his close relatives in police, was keeping track of intelligence inputs of as to when Malik and Geelani would meet. "As on Monday, the separatist leadership was scheduled to hold a joint meeting at Geelani's residence, the PDP leader played his card," the sources said.
Though for the past few days the separatist leaders are holding joint consultations to "fight proposed construction of Sainik Colony and separate township for Pandits", Geelani and Malik never enjoyed a good-chemistry.
As of now when Malik had been specifically targeting the PDP minister accusing him of being "ultimate liar", Geelani's statement against the PDP Minister would only add fuel to fire. "So in a bid to counter vilification campaign, he the PDP Minister has finally taken refuge in the Geelani's camp," the sources said.
Insiders said PDP Minister has even sent a message to Geelani that they both being "Khandani" should help each other as "mark of brotherhood and family connection."
Insiders said, "We have been asked to duly entertain any requests from the Hurriyat-G with regard to administrative issues in the department," said a middle-rung official.
Meanwhile sources said PDP Minister has conveyed to the separatist camps to ask Malik why he alone was being targeted. "There are many prominent ministers, why my name alone is being vilified?"
