SRINAGAR, May 25: Prima facie observing that cancellation and subsequent allotment of an evacuee property (EP) at Bagat-i-Barzulla, Srinagar, has been done in an arbitrary manner, the State Vigilance Commission (SVC) has sought the personal appearance of the deputy custodian to explain the alleged misuse of authority by him. "SVC has directed the deputy custodian (central) of EP department to appear in person on next date of hearing along with relevant record for taking further action on the complaint filed by one Dr G L Ogra," official sources said. The SVC issued the directive in its meeting, chaired by Chief Vigilance Commissioner Kuldeep Khoda, after examining Ogra's complaint against the EP custodian, challenging the cancellation of lease deed executed by the department on April 5, 1985 with him. Ogra said an evacuee property leased out to him by custodian department at Bagat-i-Barzulla for 40 years was being used by him to run a school under the name of "Green Vale Public School", but the EP department had now cancelled the lease in an arbitrary and discriminatory manner and in contravention of provisions of the J&K Migrant Immovable Property Preservation, Protection and Restrain of Distress Sales Act 1997. He alleged that the department had allotted the property to other person without following the prescribed norms. The commission, after going through the record, prima facie observed that the cancellation and subsequent allotment of the property had been done arbitrarily and sought personal appearance of the deputy custodian to explain the misuse of authority by him. |
