JAMMU, May 25: 'Non-residents' who left their native places more than 15 years ago, and are residing in Jammu city and its adjoining areas, are using their political influence to get RBA certificates. According to residents of Panchyat Halqa Mohargarh and Deion of district Samba, over one hundred families had migrated from these Panchyats due to non-availability of basic facilities in developed areas. The residents said that a sitting minister and a sitting MLA are pressuring the revenue department to issue RBA certificates in favour of migrated people. "These families have been residing in cities for last 15 to 40 years. We struggle hard to get RBA status for these areas", said an resident of Panchyat Mohargarh, adding that when government extended RBA status to these areas, now non-residents are using their political link to get RBA issued certificates from revenue department. During their migration to cities, they provided best education to their children, but those who could not migrated due financial problem are unable to compete with these people. "Our children completed their education in very odd conditions, if revenue department issues RBA in favour of those migrated people, it will be injustice to us", he said. The local said that Revenue Department, especially Tehsildar Samba doing favour to these families. "Following objections from local over issuance of RBA certificates in favour of migrated people, the Tehsildar Samba, visited the village and went a family to who had migrated to Samba years back, to get recorded their statement", they alleged. The resident further said that they have brought the matter into notice of district administration recently. "If we can fight to get RBA status for these remotest areas, we can also fight to save future of our children, who did their best to continue their study despite all odd conditions", they said. Deputy Commissioner Samba, Sheetal Nanda, when contacted acknowledged that some people who are 'ineligible' trying their best get RBA certificate, but rule would not be violated. |
