BJP continues to play second fiddle in Govt

Early Times Report
JAMMU, May 25: BJP continues to play second fiddle in the alliance government led by PDP with latter taking 'unilateral' decisions with respect to political appointments to accommodate their own people against various posts. As PDP grabs master share in almost all spheres, BJP ministers look on as mute partner, neither asserting nor aggressively opposing any such move. This attitude has labelled BJP as weakest partner in any coalition government but more than that it has irked the party as a whole with resentment growing against all the ministers among the cadres.
Sources said while PDP has taken majority of share in the appointments wherein it has adjusted and accommodated its choicest persons afresh in the second innings this year, BJP ministers have seldom expressed any reservations over what the party feel as PDP taking unilateral decisions without even consulting the BJP counterparts despite having share in power. Sources said the latest move that has surprised many is the appointment of media consultant from Valley over which no BJP minister nor even the Deputy Chief Minister is learnt to have been taken into confidence.
Sources further said what annoys party leadership in Jammu most is not the people taken on board against various posts by PDP leadership, instead the reticence of BJP ministers , Deputy Chief Minister in particular which indicate they are meek and timid, notwithstanding the fact they have equal stakes in matters of appointments and other issues. The PDP has taken it for granted that BJP ministers will not react or respond to any move taken unilaterally, something which that became explicit and clear to PDP leadership during last year's 10 month long partnership, said the sources. Leave aside the matter of political appointments, the BJP ministers have not resented nor opposed even a couple of decisions last year which were utterly anti Jammu, said a senior leader of BJP, lamenting the timid approach of party ministers which have affected the morale of the cadres and people of Jammu in general.
