Early Times Report
srinagar, May 25: Contrary to its previous stand, Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) who is in power with the Peoples Democratic Party in state of Jammu and Kashmir today diluted its stand on establishment of Sanik Colonies in Kashmir added that the BJP wants to protect the special status of the state and will felicitate the accommodation of only those Saniks (security personals) who are the Permanent Residence of the state having Permanent Residence Certificate (PRC's).
While talking to media persons on the sidelines of Governor address at SKICC Srinagar, BJP State President Sat Sharma while reacting to the party stand on establishment of Sanik colonies in Kashmir said that BJP is committed on its agenda and said that Sanik Colonies will be established in Kashmir, however added that it will be only for those who are the Permanent Residents of the state.
"Had those people guarding our borders have no rights-we know J&K has special status" said Sat Sharma.
In a question regarding the statement of Education Minister Nayeem Akther who is also a government spokesperson wherein Nayeem Akther categorically stated that government has no plan to established Sanik colonies in Kashmir, Sat Sharma said that the party is committed towards the same and said that they have not talked with the government over this issue so far and said that soon the party will held a deliberation with the government over the same.
In another question whether government had identified any land for establishment of Sanik Colonies, Sat Sharma did not give any suitable answer and said that once the party will talk with the government over the issue; things with regard to the same would get clear.
In a question regarding settlement of Kashmiri Pandits in separate colonies, BJP State President said that his party is committed for dignified return and rehabilitation of Kashmiri Pandits along with West Pak refuges, however he did not make any comment whether party will support the establishment of separate colonies migrants which is being opposed by various Kashmir centric parties including National Conference as well as by the separatists.
It is pertinent to mention that earlier BJP wants establishment of full flagged Sanik colonies in Kashmir and there was no mention of any words from the party that only State Subject holders will be given accommodation in these proposed Sanik colonies, but after facing snubbing from coalition partner PDP, NC and separatist leaders, the BJP seems to be on back foot.
