| Forcing MLAs to sign affidavits of loyalty is sign of Congress' frustration: Hari Om | | |

jammu, May 26: The May 25 signing of the loyalty affidavits by the MLAs of the Congress Party in West Bengal brings out the fascist mindset prevalent in the party, said Jammu for India (JFI) convener, Prof Hari Om, here today in a written statement. Such gestures of total obeisance to those who control the party have been a common occurrence in parties controlled by dictators with totalitarian outlook, he said, and added that it is a known fact that all through its history the Congress betrayed absence of true democratic culture and behaved as a party subservient to an individual. From loyalty to Mahatma Gandhi to Jawaharlal Nehru to Indira Gandhi to Rajiv Gandhi to the total subservience to AICC president Sonia Gandhi and her son and AICC vice-president Rahul Gandhi, the Congress' political behaviour has been only cosmetically democratic.
The political culture in the Congress party is a culture where its cadres have to conform to the diktats of the dictator who controls it at a particular time, said Prof Hari Om, adding that loyalty oaths and expressions in words and deeds is a compulsory attitude which Congress workers have to imbibe and demonstrate from time to time in case they have to survive and rise in the party. There is not doubt that in the present times under the leadership of Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi the party is becoming more brazenly authoritarian than in the past, asserted Prof Hari Om. The nation knows how the Congress leader Sita Ram Kesri, who was the party president of the party, was thrown out for not showing the type of submission required of him towards the undeclared dictator of the party who was none other than Sonia Gandhi, said the JFI convener. He also said that Rahul Gandhi chose to publicly ridicule and disown many decisions of Manmohan Singh when he was the PM of India.
The JFI convener said that the Congress has now become a fascist formation wearing a democratic veil controlled by the mother and the son. It has chosen to become pathologically anti-majority and is promoting regressive tendencies amongst minorities of India, said Prof Hari Om, and added that the Congress is getting transformed into an instrument which openly and brazenly hampers the normal process of nation-building and promotes fissiparous tendencies across the nation. It is an ominous development, said the JFI convener.
Prof Hari Om asked the Jammu-based Congress leaders to snap ties with the Sonia-controlled Congress and join forces which are genuinely democratic and nationalistic and asserted that the Congress is not a party of Indians. The Congress, he said, was founded in December 1885 by an India-based British National AO Hume in consultation with the Governor General of India and Secretary of State for India, both British nationals, to puncture and defeat the then ongoing freedom struggle in India. "If the Jammu-based Congress leaders are truly nationalist, they must prove their nationalistic credentials by resigning from the Congress party and joining those in Jammu who are fighting both for Jammu province and the nation as a whole," said the JFI convener.
Prof Hari Om also urged the Election Commission of India to derecognize the Congress party to send a clear massage to all that India is a democratic country and added that the BJP is also not a boon for the country as it has been flirting with undesirable elements to remain in power. |
