Early Times Report

Poonch, May 26: The locals of surrounding areas of Horticulture nursery in Mendhar have been constantly encroaching upon its land while the concerned authorities seems to be in deep slumber as no action against the accused have been taken so far despite a complaint registered in this regard, the sources said here today. "A complaint was registered against one encroacher namely Abdul Rashid when a news story was carried by Early Times some days ago, said a local adding but no action was taken as yet which encourages others, also to encroach the land as authorities seems to be in deep slumber."
People alleged that former official of Horticulture Department with the connivance of Revenue officials have granted fake girdawaris to some people who have raised structures on the horticulture land which was meant for fruit nursery, adding had not been there an unholy nexus how would one dare to grab the state land, they lamented. They said the polygreen house was in shambles and no care is being taken of the nursery which has been reduced to only 5 kanals of land instead it was officially spread on 8 kanals.
Chief Horticulture Officer Poonch RK Koul paid a visit to nursery and took the stock of the situation. He told Early Times that a report in this regard will be submitted before the district administration and necessary steps will be taken to prevent people to encroach the land, he added. Meanwhile people of the area have urged the concerned authorities to retrieve the land of horticulture department which have been encroached by some locals
