Early Times Report

Jammu, May 26: Claiming that 45 militants have been eliminated so far across the state of Jammu and Kashmir, Army today said that those waiting at launching pads, may try ''non-traditional'' routes to sneak into the Indian Territory.
''This year so far 45 militants have been killed in Jammu and Kashmir by the security forces since January 1,'' defence sources here told.
They said Army had also reviewed summer strategy along the 744-km-long Line of Control, adding, ''despite gunning down the big number of militants in Kashmir, many were still waiting at the launching pads across the Line of Control in Pakistani to enter into Jammu and Kashmir.''
''There are apprehensions that the militants waiting at the launching pads across the border, may try some ''non-traditional'' routes to sneak into J&K this summer,'' sources asserted.
They further said that endeavour of Army has always been to intercept and neutralise anti-national elements before they reach the fence.
''Innovative troop deployment, including ambushes, efficient use of surveillance and monitoring devices, besides fencing along the LoC have enhanced our ability to detect and intercept infiltration,'' sources added.
''While the militants outfits are being rapidly reduced by the swift and planned actions of security forces in Kashmir, it has become a matter of concern for the ISI and the Pakistani army,'' sources added.
''Army has robust in counter-infiltration strategy on the LoC having a blend of technology and human resource,'' they said.
They further added that there is an immense pressure on militants across the LoC in launching pads to make successful attempt of sneaking into Indian Territory but Army foiled all their nefarious designs.
Over 100 militants were killed by the Army in Jammu and Kashmir last year, they said and added, ''as per an official report, 18 "highly trained" militants crossed the LoC and sneaked into Kashmir via frontier Kupwara district this April and five of them were shot dead in recent encounters.''
Pertinent to mention here that in Poonch district of Jammu region on May 16, Bilal Bhat, a wanted militant died when he fell into a gorge while escaping the Army/security forces when along with his two associates, he was trying to ex-filtrate to PoK via the LoC.
