VC Misuses autonomy to ban ABVP in Jammu : BJP
5/27/2016 11:12:39 PM
Early Times Report

Srinagar, May 27: After hinting at action against Jammu University vice-chancellor professor RD Sharma for banning the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) in all educational institutions in the region, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Friday accused him of misusing his autonomy and said that his attitude was not acceptable.
"You want freedom for students to raise anti-India slogans in JNU, but you don't want the JU (Jammu University) students to say Bharat Mata ki Jai? That kind of attitude by the VC is unacceptable," BJP general secretary Ram Madhav told the media in Srinagar.
"His attitude towards the students is not right. Every right thinking person should oppose his attitude of banning student organisations in the campus," he added.

Stating that the BJP has conveyed its strong opinion against the vice-chancellor's attitude to the concerned people in the state government, Madhav accused the former of misusing his autonomy and asserted that student organisations must be allowed to carry on activities in the campus.
The BJP general secretary had slammed Sharma's 'obstinate behaviour' and said that action would be taken accordingly.
"BJP ministers take up Jammu University VC obstinate behaviour against ABVP. Action will be taken (sic)," Madhav tweeted.
The entry of the ABVP has been banned in all educational institutions in the Jammu region. The ban on ABVP comes in the backdrop of BJP sharing power with PDP in the state.
It is reported that the ABVP had sought permission from Government Women College Parade, Jammu, for holding the national executive committee meet, which was out rightly rejected, even though deputy chief minister and senior BJP leader Nirmal Singh was the guest for the event.
Meanwhile, the Jammu and Kashmir BJP leaders have come at the forefront in ABVP's defence.
