Srinagar. May 27: The former Chief Minister and leader of opposition in Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly Omar Abdullah today slammed the senior BJP Minister for his 1947 mayhem remarks added that when a minister of ruling party would speak like this, the chance of bring the people of different shades of life together a very different thing.
While speaking on Governor's motion of thanks held on May 25 which he missed, the NC working president Omar Abdullah said that when government is talking about bringing the people of different regions together is difficult at the time when a ruling minister in the coalition government threatened the Muslims of Jammu region wherein the BJP Minister allegedly reminded a group of Muslims of 1947 mayhem who visited his Jammu residence for seeking redresser of some problem while at the same time RSS people with guns in hands march on the streets of Jammu. He said that such things are detrimental to peace and tranquility.
Reacting to Omar Abdullah statement on the floor of the house, Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) state President while talking to "Early Times" said that Omar Abdullah has no right to speak against the RSS and its ideology added that it is due to backing of RSS and BJP, Omar Abdullah became the minister in NDA government headed by Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
"In fact he (Omar Abdullah) is the baby of RSS who played in the arms of BJP as a junior minister (Omar Abdullah was MoS Foreign Affairs in Vajpayee government)" said Sat Sharma.
In response to the question on the controversy, Sat Sharma said that even though minister has denied making any such comment, added that party is examining the matter. He said that in case the BJP minister is found guilty of making such comment, action would be initiated against him.
In response to the question that whether party would sack the minister if found guilty, Sat Sharma said that he believes that he had not said anything like that, but added that party is ready to sack the minister if found guilty.
Earlier as and when the BJP Minister, stood to answer a query of an MLA during question hour, MLA's from treasury benches, opposition MLAs including former Speaker Mohammad Akbar Lone raised intense slogans against the minister.
Meanwhile, the people in Kishtwar district today took to streets after Friday prayers against the 1947 mayhem comment made by BJP Minister with Gujjar delegations and demanded immediate dismissal of the minister.
Large number of people after Friday prayers led by Imam Jamia Masjid Kishtwar Farooq Ahmed Kichloo assembled at Bus Stand Kishtwar and raised slogans against the BJP Minister for his irrelevant comment. The agitating people demanded registration of an FIR against the minister and his immediate arrest. They also demanded probe into the allegations of a family member of 27 year old youth Abdul Wahid Gujjar son of Guffur Gujjar resident of Hungana Mulchatar Chatroo in Kishtwar District who was allegedly been killed by the army and was thrown into rivulet in Sigdi area of Kishtwar District.
