NC taunts BJP, says it no more talks about Ek Vidhan, Ek Pradhan, Ek Nishan

Early Times Report
Jammu, May 27: The state legislature on Thursday, when Kashmir at the behest of separatists observed the first ever bandh against the internally-displaced Kashmiri Hindus and ex-soldiers from the state and opposed the proposal on establishment of colonies for them in the Valley, witnessed remarkable unity among all Kashmiri lawmakers and the BJP lawmakers and ministers watched the scene as mute spectators. All the Kashmiri lawmakers in one voice batted for the state's special status while paying tributes to Late Mufti Mohammad Sayeed. They said they will not allow any power to "weaken J&K's identity" and stated that "any party which weakens J&K's identity would lose its relevance in the State politics" (read Kashmir politics, as Jammu and Ladakh are bitterly opposed to Article 370).
However, it was NC MLA from Uri and former minister Mohammad Shafi Uri who virtually taunted the BJP lawmakers and ministers by asserting that the BJP now no longer talks about Ek Vidhan, Ek Pradhan, Ek Nishan.
Asserting that it was "a big challenge to restore Article 370 to its original position and find solution to the Kashmir problem within the ambit of the Constitution of India, in the present circumstances," Uri said: "Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visited Afghanistan and recently to Iran…Now they (Modi and other BJP leaders) don't talk about Babar and instead recite the poetry of Ghalib in Iran. The BJP is no longer talking of Ek Vidhan, Ek Pradhan, EkNishan".
The BJP lawmakers felt embarrassed, but could not muster courage to take on Shafi Uri. A BJP minister could only say that the "RSS ideology is "true secularism" and "dissent means strengthening Indian democracy". "In democracy, we agree to disagree. Mufti sahab provided space to opposition and would often say that the role of the opposition is to oppose, expose and depose," the clueless and chicken-hearted BJP minister said.
The BJP lawmakers were, in fact, not in a position to rebut Shafi Uri, as their party threw to the wind its ideology as early as in 1998, when the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) alliance came into being and Atal Behari Vajpayee became the Prime Minister. The Common Minimum Programme (CMP) which the BJP adopted to accommodate the views of "secular" parties like Lok Janshakti Party and Janata Dal had no reference whatever to Article 370, Ram Temple and Uniform Civil Code. Not only this, the PDP-BJP Agenda of Alliance, which was made public on March 1, 2015, not only maintained the state's special status but also envisaged a regime which would be more autonomous and declared that Pakistan and Hurriyat Conference were the stakeholders in J&K.
In other words, the BJP-RSS combine not only endorsed the Kashmiri demand seeking preservation of the state's special status but also went several steps further to stitch an alliance with a Kashmiri party, champion of self-rule. Besides, the BJP proved its "secular" credentials by supporting overtly and covertly all the acts of the state government, including its stand on cow-killing and beef eating, jaziya on chopper service to Hindu religious places, National Food Security Act, new industrial policy, proposed sainik colonies and colonies for Kashmiri Hindus and so on.
The fact of the matter is that the BJP is the only party which is bereft of any ideology and that it can go to any extent to grab power and then retain control over it.
Indeed, by not rebutting Shafi Uri, the BJP not only let down Jammu and abused the Jammu mandate but also exposed itself yet again and become a laughing stock and an object of contempt and ridicule.
