Early Times Report
Jammu, May 27: A senior BJP leader and a minister in the present regime seems inclined towards holding talks with separatists. He has reiterated his offer to act as a facilitator between the Centre and the separatists for the second time within a span of a few days.
Talking to reporters on the sidelines of a function in Srinagar, the BJP minister said, "The Centre is ready to hold the talks with the Hurriyat under the Indian and J&K Constitution. "As per the Agenda of Alliance, the Centre will hold talks with anyone. They (Hurriyat people) are own people but they should be ready to hold the talks with the Centre."
An analyst while talking to Early Times said, "On one hand BJP claims that separatists are anti-nationals and have no mandate to represent people of Kashmir on the other hand one of its senior leader, who holds an important position and portfolio, is going out of way to appease the separatists and is pleading before them to come and hold talks with the Centre."
He said, "It seems BJP is a divided house and its leaders don't know what they are talking. The central leadership of BJP has made it clear on many occasions that separatists are non-entities and Centre won't engage with such people who take orders and directions from their bosses sitting in Pakistan. The senior BJP leader in JK seems unaware about his party's stand and is going out of way to appease the Kashmir based leaders."
A defence analyst while commenting on the statement of the BJP Minister said, "It's unfortunate that our leaders want to talk to such people who are a threat to sovereignty and integrity of the country and have been fighting the proxy war launched by Pakistan in Kashmir for the past 25-years."
He said, "Such statements are an insult to the sacrifices which have been rendered by our brave soldiers. Our brave soldiers laid down their precious lives to uphold the dignity of the tricolor in Kashmir and foiled all the nefarious designs of our enemy, whose local stooges (separatists) left no stone unturned to implement their agenda in Kashmir. The local politicians have been elected by the people to address their day to day problems. They should stop from meddling into the issues which don't fall in their domain."
The statement of the senior BJP minister has drawn flak from even his party men. "We have got nothing to do with separatists. We are of the firm belief that they should be booked and put behind bars on the charges of sedition," said a BJP leader.
He said, "The party high command should take a serious note of what the senior BJP minister has said. He should be asked to explain his position vis-à-vis separatists and his soft corner towards them."
