Duke show room among 6 shops suffer damages in fire

Rajouri, May 28: Six shops including Duke exclusive show room (Garment shop) suffered damages in a fire which broke out in main bazaar of Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir. No injury was reported in the incident while the reason behind fire is being ascertained.
According to police sources, a mysterious fire broke out during midnight in old market near Jhulla Bridge in Rajouri in which two garment shops got completely damaged while flames gradually spread to nearby shops also.
Sources said that fire reportedly started at around 1.00am, locals acting swiftly informed fire brigade and the police also. Police party from city police post along with Fire brigade team led by Assistant Director RC Raina rushed to the spot and started fire extinguishing operations. "The fire men have to use dozens of pipes to make their reach to the fire zone as the fire tenders could not reach to the target area die to congested locality," sources added.
"It took almost three hours to douse the flames completely meantime three shops including garment showroom got gutted, sources said.
They said, "During preliminary investigations the cause behind the devastating fire was believed to be the short circuit, but police is also verifying the other facts.
Meanwhile Niab Tehsildar Rajouri Abdul Ghani visited the area Saturday morning took stock of loss. As per initial survey reports by Revenue Official, cloth shop owned by Raja Ram and Girdhari Lal suffered loss upto Rs 05 lakhs, Duke showroom owned by Mulakh Raj and Vishwamitar total loss about was estimated upto Rs30 lakhs, Gupta Cloth House suffered loss about 10 lakhs, Amrik Singh Surinder Singh Watch & Mobile Repair Shop suffered loss of about 03 lakhs, CMK Fruit and Vegetable shop owned by Ashok Kumar and Sanjay Kumar total loss of about 02 lakhs. "After surveying the spot and taking stock of loss a detailed report will be submitted with district administration shortly, sources added.
