Two AIIMS for J&K a dream comes true: Health Minister
Doda medical college paper work completed, Kathua papers to be completed shortly

Srinagar, May 28: Applauding the Union Government led by Prime Minister Narindra Modi for sanctioning two AIIMS institutes for J&K, State Health Minister Bali Baghat today said that it was like a dream comes true not only for him as a minister, but for poor people of the state of Jammu and Kashmir who faces lot of inconvenience and hardship in terms of availing best health facilities in the state.
While talking to "Early Times" Health Minister Bali Baghat said that after pursuing the matter at highest level since last over one month, the Union government finally accorded sanction for establishment of two AIIMS one to be established at Vijaypur in Samba District of Jammu Provence and the other one at Awantipora in Srinagar.
At the same time expressing his gratitude to PM Narindra Modi and Union health Minister J P Nadda, he lauded duo for showing generosity in sanctioning two national level health intuitions for the state of Jammu and Kashmir. He maintained that he personally visited the Delhi and gets the order copy in this regard.
He said that all the formalities required for first phase had been completed which led to the sanctioning of both the AIIMS and added that the work on preparations of DPR's and detail maps of construction and building designs will be started shortly to be followed by issuance of tender notices.
Health minister also said that all these formalities will take two to three months for completion in addition to this the required time frame for allotment of tenders to the contractors. He said that state government will approach the Prime Minister of India for finalizing the dates for lying of the foundation stones of both the AIIMS in state.
The minister also added that both AIIMS will cost Rs 4900 Cr with 2000 Cr each will be spent on two AIMS while remaining Rs900 Cr will be spent on administration and faculty.
In response to the delaying in finalization of Medical College for Doda and Kathua, Bali Baghat said that the paper work of Doda Medical College has been completed added that the paper work for medical college Kathua is at advance stage and said that soon the work on these two remaining medical colleges will be started shortly.
Health minister said after assuming the charge of Health Ministry, he had pursued the cases of medical colleges vigorously with union Health Minister and finally manage to laid foundation stones of three colleges in short span of time.
