Early Times Report Kathua, May 29: Despite High Court's direction for providing facilities, under Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed by both Ministry of Power, Government of India and Government of J&K on 20.07.2000, to people whose land had been acquired for Sewa-II Power Station Mashka Tehsil Bani 120 km from Kathua town, no compliance has been made by National Hydroelectric Power Corporation, NHPC till date. Advocate Rakesh Thakur, Chief Patron of Pahari Vikas Committee, PVC today submitted a memorandum to secretary to Government, Ministry of Power, New Delhi, The commissioner-cum- secretary to government, civil secretary Srinagar, Managing Director, NHPC Faridkot, Chief engineer Sewa II Bani and Sr Manager HR wing Sewa II Mashka through DDC Kathua with High Court's direction for redressal of 16 years long pending demands besides sufferings of people due to non-compliance of MoU. While interacting media, Thakur informed that a Memorandum of Understanding MoU was signed between Ministry of Power, Government of India and Government of Jammu and Kashmir in 2000 wherein among others, it was signed that Class 'C' & 'D' posts in sewa -II Power station Mashka Tehsil Bani would be filled only from the candidates of 86 families ousted due to the formation of the aforesaid project by NHPC in terms of rehabilitation and resettlement scheme formulated by NHPC. He informed that accordingly a notification for filling the posts of para-medical staff in sew II was issued by the NHPC with terms of the aforesaid MoU rather the applications for the said posts were called in general from everywhere and not only from the ousted/ affected families of this unit. |
