Bracing up for unified struggle

Early Times Report

JAMMU, May 29: Bracing up for a united and unified struggle against the separatists and some main steam opposition parties Kashmiri Pandits are going to stage demonstrations from tomorrow.
Starting form Jagti township the Kashmiri Pandits have decided to launch their movement from there and have appealed all migrant bodies to support them in this struggle.
The call for agitation has been given by All Migrant Camp Coordination Committee (AMCCC) in collaboration with various other KP organizations from Jagti and other camps. ``We can't tolerate the dictates of separatists and forces inimical to our existence in Kashmir Valley any more now'', said Desh Rattan president of AMCCC.
The separatists as well as the main stream parties are one so far as the return of migrants to Valley is concerned and under one or other pretext they want to thwart this move. It is not for the first time that the protests were held in Kashmir on Pandits return but previously too separatists launched a hate campaign against the minority Pandits whenever Government prepared a formula on their rehabilitation in Valley. Under a sinister design our return move is being thwarted by the members of majority community in Kashmir and this will no longer be tolerated now, he added.
The Pandits have decided to accelerate their movement and take on the forces opposed to their rehabilitation in Valley, Rattan said, adding what problem these people have in establishment of separate colonies for migrants in Kashmir. ``It is they who brought a bad name to Valley and its secular character by rejecting the composite culture in 1989-90 and forcing Pandits to flee after indulging in selective killings and eliminating the members of the community one by one''.
Supporting his contentions Raj Nath another member AMCCC said that Pandits should now forcefully demand their rights as the community can't live in wilderness any long. The separatists and the Valley based leaders of some mainstream parties are blackmailing India since 1947 and it was the result of the same policy that Pandits are leading an exiled life for last 27 years now. Had the Union Government seen through their game plan and acted decisively on appropriate time the Pandits would have not become refugees in their own country. Even now at this juncture too GoI is unable to read the minds of both separatists and these main stream parties including Valley based Congress leaders who have openly opposed separate colonies for a miniscule minority in Valley.
Nath has put a question to these Congress leaders and activists who too have joined the chorus by opposing separate colonies for Pandits that what threat such colonies of a miniscule minority could be for a population of near one crore Muslims in Kashmir.
He said under the prevailing situation Pandits can't return their original places in Valley as neither situation is conducive for the same nor the environment is like of seventies and sixties. The land of Pandits has been grabbed and houses razed to ground or they have got damaged due to vagaries of weather over the years, he added.
He said moreover the land of religious places has also been grabbed even some temples razed to ground and names of historical and cultural centers changed. Still separatists and mainstream leaders of Kashmir call themselves secularists when they have brought all bad name to secularism. Supporting Nath Vinod Kumar another activists said that the Pandits should now be ready for a decisive battle and not hesitate from any sacrifice. He said the main stream parties who oppose separate colonies for Pandits in Valley stand exposed now and it has become totally evident that they too were a party forcing the mass exodus of minority Hindus from Valley in 1989-90.
