Early Times Report

JAMMU, May 30: The disgraced Pakistan scientist AQ Khan claiming that his country has the ability to target New Delhi and destroy it with nuclear weapons is yet another instance about highhandedness of the people sitting in the neighbouring country.
Dr Khan, who illegally passed nuclear secrets to Iran, Syria and North Korea, has threatened that Pakistan has the ability to target New Delhi from Kahuta near Rawalpindi in five minutes. A defence analyst while commenting upon Dr Khan's threat said, "India has the ability to target entire Pakistan. And Pakistanis know it very well."
He said, "India too can target whole of Pakistan, but nuclear weapons are meant for resistance and not for attacks."
The analyst said, "There are many people like Khan in Pakistan who want their country to wage a full-fledged war against India. They losing the 25-year old proxy war in Kashmir has frustrated them."
"Pakistan is trying its best to revive the terrorism in restive Kashmir but all its attempts to do so have proved counterproductive due to the presence of alert soldiers on the Line of Control and active counter insurgency grid in Kashmir. Now people like Khan are threatening India by boasting about nuclear weapons ," he added.
An observer said, "Pakistan has been the source of trouble for India since its inception in 1947. Pakistanis harbor ill will against India and wait for a chance to bleed us. Our desire for peace is considered our weakness." He said, "Indian politicians need to show a strong will to tackle Pakistan once for all. The only dispute with Pakistan at present is the part of Kashmir which it occupied in 1947. The PoK has become a breeding ground for terrorists. Politicians need to show strong will to act against the people who are behind spreading terrorism in India. We should give our Army a chance to carry out surgical strikes in PoK and destroy all the terrorist camps present there." A Kashmir watcher while talking to Early Times said, "There are many people like AQ Khan in Pakistan who need to be given a befitting reply and tamed as they always remain busy in hatching conspiracies against India." He said, "India should not take AQ Khan's threat lightly it can be an indication of the motives of Pakistan. They (Pakistanis) at present stand cornered as they stand exposed before the international community. Pakistan has proved to be a failed state. India needs to ponder upon the fact that nuclear weapons in Pakistan are not safe as they can fall in the lap of terrorists on any given day."
"India should make all the possible efforts to make the international community aware about the fact that nuclear weapons in Pakistan are not safe," he added.
