Srinagar, May 30: In reply to a question of National Conference MLA Mohammad Akbar Lone, government of Jammu and Kashmir stated that there are 111077 registered unemployed youths with District Employment and Counselling Centers across 22 Districts of the state. As per previous datacollected by various agencies, there are more than 6 lakh unemployed Youth in state of Jammu and Kashmir which is highest percentage in the country as per the population ratio. As per details furnished by the government, Kulgam District in Kashmir Division tops the list with 16405 registered unemployed youths followed by Kargil (5554), Anantnag (5379), Baramulla (5242), Pulwama (5173), Budgam (5115), Srinagar (5011), Bandipora (4546), Shopian (4266), Ganderbal (4198), Kupwara (3882) and Leh (2376) in Kashmir Division contributing 67147 registered unemployed youths in totality. While in Jammu Division, Jammu District tops the list with 12354 registered unemployed youths followed by Kathua (9481), Samba (4224), Reasi (4026), Rajouri (4016), Udhampur (3613), Doda (1974), Poonch (1837), Ramban (1210) and Kishtwar District have the least number of 1195 registered unemployed persons in the state. Jammu Division contributes 43930 registered unemployed youths in total. Out of 111077 registered unemployed persons in the state, 216 are illiterate, 8579 middle pass, 29088 Matric Pass, 1718 TDC (12th), 33741 Graduates, 21921 Post Graduates, 6984 Diploma holders, 3086 Degree holders, 2081 Dratsmen, 372 Skilled other than ITI and 2643 others. The government in respect of the achievements under various unemployment schemes stated that 4346 units were established under Seed Capital Fund Scheme, 791 units under Youth Start-up Loan Scheme, 2121 units under Term Loan Scheme of National Minority Development Finance Corporation and 866 Units under Women Entrepreneurship Program. In response to concern expressed by the opposition MLAs from NC, Congress and Independent MLAs, Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti said that her government had asked corporate houses already working in Kashmir to engage Kashmir youth and train them. In response to a question whether PDP-BJP government was thinking about launching Rehbar-e-Khel Scheme for Physical Education Trained youth, the CM said, "we are involving Private Education Sector. I have told some schools to engage our sports champions and this way we will ensure that youth are engaged and get employment." She added that every one can't get government job. "We have schemes like UDAAN but what my government has tried is to get the companies to J&K and get our youth trained here so that we are able to use their expertise in state itself" Ms Mufti said. She said that under Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), her government has involved "big" Corporate Houses which will adopt one Polytechnic each under CSR which "enhance the value" of the colleges added that 30 such institutions have already been identified by the government. Seeking cooperation and support from Opposition to make various initiatives taken by her government viz-a-viz entrepreneurship and skill development, Mehbooba Mufti said that her government is not doing any project exclusively for any specific constituencies (referred to constituencies represented by PDP MLAs) added that the steps taken are for whole J&K. "If you have any idea which can ensure employment for our youth, please share it," she asked Opposition and asked them to please ensure that it is implemented on ground. "I am with you; my officials are present 24X7--- I can't do it single handedly--- unemployment is an issue which surpasses the party divide" she said. |
