JAMMU, May 30: Levitating under the impact of Akhnoori Raj established by Vice Chancellor in the University of Jammu, the University Authority accommodated a teacher by paying him hugely when his case for remuneration was declared as unjustified by the Coordinator Economics.
A document in the possession of Early Times revealed that in the month of August 2015, Coordinator Economics Prof Jasbir Singh informed DDE that a professor who was assigned the task of writing script for distance learners for PG Economic as two courses number 513 and 563 did neither come within the ambit of enshrined specimens nor lesson were in accordance with SLM and the Coordinator recommended that he ceases to claim remuneration for these scripts as these were of no use for the distance learner.
The sources in the university told that the Vice Chancellor was accordingly informed by DDE vide letter no. DDE/Adm/15/1107 dated 26-08-2015 that the said professor cannot claim remuneration given the report of Coordinator concerned. Upon the report of DDE, the sources told that the VC directed DDE to inform the professor which was done accordingly by DDE.
The sources further informed that for semester III and semester IV in MA Economics, the courses no 510, 511,515, 516 and course no 560,561,565,566 were figuring as per syllabus respectively and going by the syllabus course no. 513 and 563 did not fall in the syllabus. They further told that when courses no. 513 and 563 were not the part of syllabus for PG Economics, then what was the necessity of engaging professor to write script for courses not prescribed in the syllabus by the Coordinator Economics is a matter of enquiry to know the complicity in the matter which the university authority overlooked for unknown reasons.
The matter did not end here and took the U-turn after the dust settled down, the sources said, adding that subsequently on the alleged intervention of VC, a Committee was got constituted, as usual, to accommodate professor, who appeared to be the favourite of VC. Allegedly at the behest of VC and through the median of committee made for the purpose, he was paid huge amount to the tune of around over fifty thousand for script writing of courses never prescribed in the syllabus, the sources disclosed.
The moot point of the issue is as to what prompted Coordinator Economics to allot him courses no. 513 and 563 for script writing out of syllabus and when he (Coordinator) came out of slumber after allotting the work, he adopted a ploy to misguide the authorities pointing out lapses in script writing and recommended non-payment of remuneration to professor the sources said , suspecting that it may be an after-thought of Dr. Jasbir Singh to put him on the safer zone to avoid backlash for his pitfall and University Authority found out the safer way to accommodate the teacher by paying him remuneration putting the gun on the shoulder of committee.
The insider said that why VC spared Coordinator Economics of DDE and failed to take action against the erring teacher for his negligence to allot courses not figuring in the syllabus, further said, adding that how VC can justify hugely paying professor, who had otherwise no fault and wittingly or unwittingly allowed Dr. Jasbir Singh to go scot-free without touching him which is a big question mark on the working style of Vice Chancellor posing himself as a very honest and sincere towards his duties, they alleged. |
