BJP, ABVP not on same page on NEET issue | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, May 30: State unit of BJP and its student wing Akhil Bharatiya Vidhyarthi Parishad (ABVP) are not on the same page on the issue of implementing National Eligibility and Entrance Test (NEET) in J&K. While the ABVP has strongly advocated that NEET should be implemented in all institutions across the country, the state unit BJP, which is sharing power with PDP in J&K, has echoed its coalition partner's view point that due to special status, J&K should be exempted from NEET implementation. After attaining power in J&K, state unit of BJP is taking opponent stands on crucial issues be it raising of national flag at NIT Srinagar, colonies from displaced Kashmiri Pandits in Kashmir and setting up of Sainik Colony in the Valley. The nationalist forces, across the nation, have supported implementation of NEET throughout the country but J&K BJP, which is behaving like B Team of Hurriyat Conference due to love for power, has not clear its stand on this issue. The party has rather echoed view point of Kashmir centric parties on this vital issue. ABVP, in its on-going national council meeting, has unanimously passed a resolution in which it has urged Union Government to implement NEET in all educational institutions including minority institutions of the country to make the medical entrance examinations fully transparent. Proposal of NEET has made to ensure transparency and accountability in medical entrance examinations. Kashmir centric parties as well as some separatist groups, taking excuse of the special status being granted to the State, have strongly opposed extension of NEET in J&K. |
