JAMMU, May 31: A man today ended his life by consuming poison under mysterious circumstances at his residence at Vyaspur, Arnia, but by the time police reached the spot, his family members had cremated his body.
This is the second time when police reached the spot late. A few days back, two youth were killed in a tractor accident. However, before the arrival of police, their families had performed last rites on them.
This shows that Arnia police had a very poor network of contacts in Vyaspur and its adjoining areas.
Police sources said a man, who was under stress in a cheque bounce case, swallowed poison at his residence at Vyaspur and ended his life. The death was mysterious and should have been investigated by police, but the body had been consigned to flames by the time cops reached there, the sources added. Sources said Arnia police station came to know about the incident in the afternoon. "It is felt that police deliberately reached the spot late as they did not want to initiate any legal proceedings in the matter," sources alleged. |
