Rajouri, May 31: When the state is facing acute power crisis, but the Municipal authorities continue to show negligence by keeping the street lights on at several places in town during day time. "This is certainly cannot be acceptable when the state is reeling under a major power crisis," complained locals, adding, "This is almost a regular scene in many localities as a usual routine." "On Monday street lights installed by municipal committee in many locations in city were seen on even during the day time but authorities remained unbothered, some locals lamented. "Even as residents are already frustrated due to frequent power cuts every year in summer, there has not been any effort by the Municipal authorities to save electricity, some said with anguish. A trader from main city on anonymity said, "I have seen street lights on throughout the day in most places. It is the responsibility of the Municipal Committee to ensure that such huge amount of electricity is not wasted while the Power Development Department (PDD) too failed to take any action in this regard". "It is the responsibility of the Power Department also to see that street lights are switched off during the day time. Neither the PDD nor the Municipal Committee seems bothered about this wastage of power and their approach speaks about their efficiency," locals said. Locals also have demanded from District administration to ask Municipal Committee and PDD to work in coordination and ensure there is no wastage of power by keeping street lights on at day times. |
