Jammu, May 31: Taking cognizance of s news report published last year in Early Times' on 16/Feb/2015, wherein the issue related to Police Stations of Jammu and Kashmir state sans basic amenities and non availability of clean drinking water and toilet facilities ead rsised In his 2016-17 budget speech F.M said "Our policemen work in very stressful and trying situations. On top of that they function in poor living conditions. The most serious aspect is the absence of adequate number of toilets in Police Lines and Police Stations. To ensure an adequate number of washrooms for policemen, it is proposed to allocate a sum of Rs. 2 crore for the purpose. More money will be provided based on the progress made in this regard." Earlier in its report the ET had published a news story about the facts that had been revealed in an RTI reply from PHQ by Jammu based RTI activist Raman Sharma, wherein the Police Headqauter had informed that there were 48 police posts and 14 police stations in the state were without any toilet facilities and similarly 48 police station and 23 police posts had no arrangement for clean drinking water. It was also published that there were 215 Police station which include 11 police stations of Railway, 2 of Women, 2 of CID, 2 of Crime Branch, 1 Tourist and 4 AHTU besides 178 crime police posts and 108 border police posts sanctioned and functioning in the state. |
