Early Times Report

Srinagar, May 31: The National Conference legislator Tuesday stormed a major controversy while saying that every Kashmiri want to become the Syed Salahuddin due to "ill-policies" of the PDP-BJP government in the state.
"Everyone want to become Salahuddin in Kashmir due to your (PDP-BJP) policies," NC MLC Showkat Ganie said on Tuesday in the Legislative Council. Salahuddin is the United Jihad Council chief, the head of all militant groups operating in Kashmir.
For the last few days, the legislators have been accused each other for the creation of Syed Salahuddin. BJP legislator Vibodh Gupta on Saturday had said that UJC chief Syed Salahuddin is the "creation" of National Conference.
"Syed Salahudin and all JKLF founding members are the creation of NC's rigging 1987 assembly polls," Gupta had said.
Reacting on this, the NC legislator said, "The reality is that NC has given supreme sacrifices during the last two decades to bring peace in the state. Educated youth are joining militant rules due to PDP-BJP ill policies and communal politics."
"The setting up of women police station will serve no purpose. You put Handwara girl's dignity at stake by making her video viral. Was not she a Ladli Beti?" Ganie asked.
He said the PDP-BJP government was weakening the Article 370. "You said Farooq Abdullah is founding member JKLF but every leader in the state has been weakened by the centre," Ganie said.
BJP MLC Sofi Yusuf said the NC made Mohammad Yusuf into Salluhdin who was winning 1986 elections. "NC-Congress is responsible for killings in Kashmir. You forced Pandits to exile," he accused. While Rakesh Gupta said, "The crime rate and women harassment has increased during the PDP-BJP rule."
Surinder Ambardar of the BJP said the PDP-BJP coalition was true reflection of democracy. "We don't expect anything from the failed state like Pakistan which promotes terrorism and extremism."
"Instead we should bring the house in order. The centre government should revisit its Kashmir policy and engage youth. We should not promote JK as victim state. JK is an integral part of India and will remain so," he said. He demanded that migrant Kashmiri Pandits should be accommodated in smart cities.
Surindar Kumar of the BJP while hitting back at the NC said, "How many people were killed during your tenure. You killed Haji Yousuf. The militancy is returning when the NC ruled the state." He said the PDP came to existence due to ill policies of the NC- Congress.
Qaiser Jamshed Lone termed the Governor address "directionless" and said there is no road map of PDP BJP government. "You said before elections that you will stop BJP from entering into Kashmir and was a reason for brisk polling. But you have cheated the Kashmir people by joining hands with the BJP as the people wanted to keep BJP at bay."
He said the Chief Minister and deputy chief minister were giving contradictory statements which has created a confusion in the state. "CM pigeon cat remark has strengthened the vested interest like Anupam Khar. In opposition you said the battle of ideas but now you put separatists behind bar," he said.
Yasir Reshi said the exile of Kashmiri Pandits is blot of Kashmiris. "We should bring them respectfully and stop politicizing it." "Farooq Abdullah used to say bomb Pakistan. You killed120 youth, now hue and cry on five killings."
Vikramaditya and Sham Lal, Saifuddin Bhat also participated in the debate.
