'Crime against women on rise in J&K: Khour rape victim faces threat'

Srinagar, May 31: Congress MLC from Bhaderwah Naresh Kumar Gupta today said that crime against women had increased in the state of Jammu and Kashmir in recent and demanded for taking series of sleeves for safe guarding and protecting the women against social crime.
While speaking in Legislative Council today, Congress MLC allege Khour Rape victim is facing the constant threat from the supporters of SHO who is presently in jail added that there is need to make immediate arrest of all those persons involved in the crime of sexual harassment and rape of the said women. He said that investigation process in the case has been slowed them. He said the members should give fair representation to every victim and showed his concern that why only Handwara Girl issue is being raised by the members and not those of other women's who are facing harassment of different nature added that there is increase in domestic violence on women and demanded for taking the crime related case involving women on fast track at the time when state is run by a female Chief Minister.
Later Chief Minister while replying on governor address also mentioned in her speech about the Khour incident and showed her anger and disappointment over the incident added that opening of women police station is to give a sense of security to the women to report such incidents.
"I don't know since how long my sister (Khour victim) is being raped by the predator police personal" regretted disappointed Chief Minister who says her government will make all its efforts to save the women from such atrocities" said Mehbooba Mufti.
It is pertinent to mention that fast Track Court Presiding Officer Kishore Kumar on 25-05-2016 rejected bail application of Mohammad Iqbal Chagatta, son of Ghulam Qadir of Bhader in Mahore, Reasi, who, as SHO of Khour Police station, had allegedly raped a woman inside the police station.
