Early Times Report

JAMMU, June 24: Non cooperation and coordination among various State government departments has made common masses to suffer and lack of control of the prevailing political dispensation in the State over these departments reveals that there is no government worth in J&K.
The worst situation has been created in the State due to this non cooperation and lack of coordination among different government agencies with the result the vested interests are taking its undue advantage .
The dismal performance of the government agencies can be gauged from the fact that on the first Day of Monsoon on June 21 entire MAM Stadium turned into a sea with two wheelers and four wheelers floating in the rain water which entered the Stadium after the breach in the city nullah flowing near the Stadium.
The JMC which claims of doing a yeomans job has failed to do the needful to plug the nullah despite the fact that over 2000 people were trapped in the Stadium including the school going children who had come from different parts of the city to participate in the International Yoga Day celebrations.
The Urban Development Ministry has failed to fix officers for their dismal performance and the people of the city have taken a serious exception to it. Accusing the government in general and Urban Development Ministry in particular for its dismal performance the Jammuites say that if half an hour first Monsoon showers could bring such a havoc what will happen if rains continue for hours together in future.
The lack of coordination among the departments has added to the woes of people to such an extent that they are left with no alternative but to come to streets in protest to seek justice and awake the ministers from the deep slumber.
Ranjit Singh of Suramgarh Jammu said that roads have been dug by private telecom companies during night hours in various Mohallas and colonies over a month back and later the work was abandoned by throwing the entire mulba on road side and in the drains along the roads with the result they got chocked and entire filth and drain water entered into the compounds of the people in these colonies.
He said in Barnai area near Kangra Fort the entire three km stretch of internal road was dug by a private telecom company during night hours and later no government agency took the responsibility of removing the mulbha, cleaning the drains and repairing the roads.
The roads have been dug in Muthi, Patoli, Rajinder Nagar, Bantalab and Baranai and when people contacted R&B authorities they said they have not given the permission to any one for digging the road, said Ramesh Khullar of Rajinder Nagar. He said when contractors are asked they said that they have sought permission for digging the road to lay four G cable.
The contractor before the R&B authorities says that permission was granted to him by JMC but fails to furnish the order. The roads remain in bad condition due to lack of coordination among the departments and people continue to suffer.
Khullar said there is no one in government to hear and concerned officers straightway R&B officers refuse to renovate the roads and lanes saying that no permission was granted by them.
He said for this sorry state of affairs the common man is made to suffer as there is no body to hear his woes in the present dispensation.
