Kathua, June 25: To stop the menace of illicit distillation of liquor, the Excise sleuths of Kathua Excise Range along with Eradication Wing Jammu conducted a series of raids in villages of district Kathua and destroyed 3100 ltrs of Lahan, 130 bottles and 425 pouches of illicit liqour on spot According to official spokesperson, the excise sleuths of Kathua Excise Range along with the Excise Eradication Wing Jammu under the command of ETO, Kathua Excise Range, Sandeep Gupta and ETO Eradication, Jammu Suresh Sharma conducted series of raids in villages Keengdayal, Sitdayal, Tarafsanji, Tanda, Jeerai, Jakhbardambra, Barnoti, Dhabwal, Chabachak, Banyari, Budhi, Saktachak, Veersochak, Kothyal and adjoining areas. "In the process 3100 liters of Lahan, 130 bottles & 425 pouches of illicit liqour prepared from Lahan, were destroyed on spot, he said, adding, "the raiding team also recovered for working stills used for preparation of illicit liquor which were also destroyed on spot.""One person namely Makhan son of Rajinder Mashaha was arrested under section 48 of the J&K Excise Act, 1958, he added. The Department has initiated multi-pronged strategy to arrest the menace of illicit distillation of liqour. Inspection teams have been activated and there shall be no laxity for those who violate the law. |
