Early Times Report Srinagar, June 26: Curfew like restrictions have been imposed in Maisuma and nearby localities in the summer capital, Srinagar, where massive protests and clashes were witnessed yesterday after Friday prayers. All roads leading to Maisuma, where the residence of Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) chairman Mohammad Yaseen Malik's residence is located, have been sealed with barbed wire. Additional security forces had been deployed at Budshah Chowk road leading to Maisuma. Similarly roads from Gaw Kadal, Red Cross road and Madina Chowk have also been sealed with barbed wire and additional security forces were not allowing anyone to go there. Yesterday Maisuma and nearby areas witnessed massive protests led by Malik and other senior separatist leaders from both the factions of Hurriyat Conference (HC) against alleged conspiracy to change the demography of the state by constructing colonies for Pandits and Sainiks besides allotting land to non state subjects under new Industrial policy in the state. However, immediately after the protests were over, there was clash between pro freedom and anti government slogan shouting demonstrators and security forces, who later burst teargas shells and resorted to lathicahrge to disperse them. However, situation in Lal Chowk, the nerve centre of the city, Budshah Chowk and other areas in the civil lines was normal. |
