Early Times Report JAMMU, June 26: The SHO of a police station here is alleged to have charged a huge amount of bribe money from four notorious cattle smugglers of Kashmir, who were apprehended by a police team headed by him from a house. The four cattle smugglers, all from Kashmir, were putting up in a house in his jurisdiction to receive milch animals for taking them to the valley. However, acting on the information developed by a police post incharge, who is under his operational command, he raided the house and apprehended all of them, according to police sources. They were then taken to the police station where a deal was finalised to free them without registering any case against them. Since they did not have the requisite bribe money, they were taken by the cops to their ATM late at night. Though the money was drawn using their ATM cards, it fell short of the money they had agreed to pay as bribe to the SHO. Therefore, they were kept at the police station for the night. Next day, money was again withdrawn using their ATM cards, sources alleged. After they paid whole of the bribe money, all of them were released on 'istighasa', sources alleged, saying the proceeds thus received were shared by all at the police station. "Maximum number of bovine smuggling cases take place in the areas that fall under the jurisdiction of the police station of which he is the SHO," sources said. |
