Early Times Report
JAMMU, June 26: One more meticulously planned terror attack on CRPF Bus in Kashmir on Saturday: At least eight got martyred, 24 were wounded and seven are struggling for life; they are in a critical condition. We all must pray to the almighty god for their speedy recovery so that they continued to serve the nation like before. Those who got martyred included Jagtar Singh (Ropar, Punjab), Rajesh Kumar (Allahabad, UP), Vir Singh (Ferozabad, UP), Santosh Saw (Aurangabad, Bihar), KK Yadav (Unnao, UP), Sanjay Kumar Singh (Jaunpur, UP), Satish Chand (Meerut, UP) and G Jaychandran (Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala). The militants ambushed the CRPF convoy of 161 battalion at Frestbal in Pampore, 15 km from Srinagar, at 4.30 pm. They fired indiscriminately at a 52-seater bus, which was part of the convoy of nearly six vehicles and on way to Srinagar from the Lethpora Pulwama firing range. Lashkar-e-Toiba claimed the responsibility. This was not the first time and such killings. Kashmir during the past few months witnessed spurt in terror activities as well as anti-India activities in the Srinagar city itself where the anti-nationals waved Pakistan and ISIS flags under the very nose of the law and order authorities. Kashmir and Jammu would witness more such attacks; helpless Indian nation would witness more such deaths of our committed jawans drawn from all parts of the country; and the country will again and again find itself in a state of shock like it is today in a state of morning. What had been happening in Kashmir since the past few months should have opened the eyes of the Union Government and the Sangh Parivar of which the BJP is its political organ. But it did not happen. The government and the Parivar continued to flirt with Pakistan and with secessionists and soft secessionists behind the curtain and sometimes openly. The result was that the anti-national forces got emboldened. What further emboldened them were four more nasty developments: (1) making senior Army official to tender an unconditional apology for no crime or for liquidating terrorists and then telling Kashmiri Muslims that they did a great thing by asking the army official to tender an apology; (2) orders that required the army to vacate strategically located camps in Srinagar, Anantnag, Kargil and other places; (3) reversal of policy vis-à-vis Pakistan in September 2015 and the announcement in the Parliament that "terror attacks or no terror attacks, talks between India and Pakistan will not be suspended"; and (4) soft approach towards those who created havoc in the NIT Srinagar and those who unleashed a vilification campaign against India exploiting the vague official proposals on establishment of composite colony for Kashmiri Hindus and Muslims and ex-servicemen, all belonging to J&K. And last but not the least: Irresponsible statements which were made by various BJP and RSS leaders to suggest that things in Kashmir under Prime Minister Narendra Modi had considerably improved - exercises in self deceptions - and such outrageous statements as "it would be politically imprudent to treat Jammu and Kashmir, Manipur and Arunachal Pradesh the way New Delhi treats other states of the Union. Al these unsettling developments have created a volcanic situation in Kashmir and also made the minorities in the state to feel insecure. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has a massive mandate behind him; it would be only prudent if he ignored the incompetent or half-baked BJP and the RSS think tanks and adopt a new policy towards Pakistan and Kashmir like China has adopted towards the Islamic radicals. There is no other alternative. Not to do so or to continue to pursue the same old policy would only result in another communal partition of India and extermination of 50 lakh members of minority communities, including Hindu, Sikh, Buddhist, Jain and Christians. Act before it is too late. |
