Early Times Report
Rajouri, June 28: How the doctors bend governments /regulations in favor of their personnel interests came to light when Assistant Commissioner Defense (ACD) on the directions from Additional DC and after people's complaint visited district hospital and found that except Dental and Orthopedics OPDs all other OPDs were closed at 2pm.
On enquiring Abdul Qayoom Mir, ACD reportedly was informed by the consultant Pediatrics and Officiating Superintend District hospital that Out Patient Departments (OPDs) remain open between 10 am and 1.30 pm and after that doctors take rounds of the concerned wards.
But the truth is that officials OPD timings are between 10 am and 3 pm and from 3 pm to 4 pm the doctors are bound to take round of their concerned wards.
"There is no such order that the OPDs shall remain open between 10 am and 1.30 pm official time for OPDs .The official timing for the OPDs in all the hospital is between 10 am and 3 pm. The matter has been brought to my notice today and soon the system will be streamlined" said Dr Mohd Younis ,Chief Medical officer (CMO).
Mohd Mumtaz Ali, ADC said that after complaints by the people that Gynecology OPD was closed at 1.30 pm, AC Defence was rushed to district hospital to check the complaint.
"He found the Gynecology OPD closed at 2 pm and on inquiring it was established that the doctor was on emergency call. He also checked other OPDs" said ADC.
Important to mention here most of the doctors on duty at OPDs leave the hospital after 1.30 pm and call the patients to their private clinics instead providing medical care at district hospital.
"As I have recently joined at Rajouri ,I have received several such complaints during last few days. Officiating Medical Superintendents, District Hospital has been directed to open the OPDs till 3 pm and between 3 to pm doctors shall visit their concerned wards" said CMO.
He added it will take some time to streamline the system and necessary directions have also been issued to the BMOs in this matter
Additional Deputy Commissioner has also assured of surprise visits in the future to check the functioning of OPDs in the hospitals especially in district hospital.
