Army organize dance, singing competition | | | Early Times Report
RAJOURI, June 28: Like every year on the occasion of Jhangar Liberation Day and to commemorate the sacrifice made by Brig Mohd Usman in the liberation of Jhangar in 1947-48 from the clutches of treacherous Pakistani intruders as well as soldiers, Army organized competition in dancing and singing under the title 'Jhangar Idol'. The competition was organized by the Nowshera Brigade under the aegis of Ace of Spades Division and the competition was organized at But alia Auditorium at Nowshera wherein more than 96 participants took part in both the competitions on June 10 and 11 to select the finalists. Like every year army is going to organize grand celebrations on the occasion of Jhangar Day on July 4 at Nowshera and besides laying of wreaths by the Army Commander/ Core Commander, GOC Ace of Spades Division and by other senior police and Civil Officers, a cultural programme will also be organized at Brigade HQS to felicitate the winners of various competitions including Jhangar Idols, ex-servicemen, Veer Naris and also to provide financial support and artificial limbs/ modified scooters and wheel chairs to the mine blast victims. "The 'Jhangar idol' is a popular competition among the youth of Nowshera, wherein huge participation is witnessed every year. This year too, the eagerness was evident where in 96 participants underwent the audition" said a senior Army officer. |
