SDH Mandi sans 'sonographer,' closed unit adding miseries 6/28/2016 11:05:52 PM Early Times Report Mandi, June 28: The ultrasound unit installed at Sub District Hospital (SDH) Mandi with great fanfare seems to have lost its vital significance for the patients and the doctors as well as the SDH Mandi has no ultrasound technician -sonographer thus making the machine worth lakhs to mere junk. Locals rued that backward tehsil of district Poonch (Mandi) yet is being let ignored by government as well as different departments including health department as there is no technician of ultrasound in Sub District Hospital (SDH) Mandi. Hospital sources told early times that the ultrasound lab of the hospital remains close during day time where hundreds of patients bothered and the pictures of both locked ultrasound room and patients waiting for ultrasound could tell the ground reality to any sane person. While speaking to this reporter locals also lamented that they are disappointed that SDH Mandi still sans the basic facilities of modern healthcare and poor people of area are thus forced either to go the Poonch or Jammu to get the radio diagnostics test which adds extra financial burden to the people looking for medical treatment. Highlighting their miseries, they also appealed to the Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti to personally intervene into matter and get the issue resolved for the cause of the people of Mandi and its adjoin areas. However when this reporter tried to get comment from concerned Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Poonch, he evaded to reply over the issue.
