Fresh security review being carried out in Kashmir
6/28/2016 11:20:30 PM
Not only the central Government but
the state Government has berated Pa
kistani agencies and Lashkar-i-Toiba activists for having enacted a ghastly act wherein eight CRPF soldiers were killed and another 21 were injured. While Mehbooba Mufti, Chief Minister, has condemned the act as unislamic and that too during the holy month of Ramdhan, The Defense Ministry and the Union Home Ministry have accused Pakistan for exporting terror to Jammu and Kashmir. What is intriguing is the way Pakistan has been,on one hand, making strong plea for resumption of bilateral dialogue but on the other hand it continues to assist militants in sneaking into Jammu and Kashmir and by carrying out attacks on the security pickets and convoys in which scores of security personnel have been killed during the last three months. Though in retaliatory fire more than 35 militants were killed, including 15 on the LOC, during the last three months but the basic purpose of these militants was to derail peace. Once the peace process is derailed it becomes difficult for the Government of India to reopen the channels of dialogue with Pakistan.
Taking a strong note of the Pampore incident Home Minister Rajnath Singh has said India will win against terrorism and no power could prevent it from achieving the success.
"We will win against terrorism," Singh has said. Expressing pain at the ambush of eight CRPF personnel in Jammu and Kashmir yesterday, Singh said the brave security personnel gunned down the two terrorists. Referring to Pakistan Rajnath Singh has blamed Islamabad for destabilising India by fomenting trouble and conflict in Jammu and Kashmir. Showering praise on security men for successfully eliminating two terrorists involved in yesterday's attack, he said, "I have asked the Home Secretary to look into any lapses in Pampore attack so that we can correct it in the future and our jawans do not face martyrdom in such incidents."I want to praise the bravery of our security men. I salute their courage. Terrorists attacked them (security men) deceitfully. But our security men killed those two terrorists successfully. The Home Minister said Indian youth should stand up to face forces which want to destabilise the country. "An attempt is being made by these terrorists and our neighbouring country to destabilise India. I call upon Indian youth to stand up to face such forces and we should greet and welcome the bravery of our security people and the way they are working with such valour and courage," said Singh without naming any country. The Home Minister said, "India cannot forget those security men who got martyred. They are not with us now and we pay our tributes to them."
The Union Home Ministry has decided to send a high level team to Kashmir for reviewing the entire situation especially on the LOC which has become vulnerable to infiltration of militants. If Inputs from intelligence agencies are to be relied on those Lashkar activists who ambushed the CRPF van had recently infiltrated from across the LOC..The Defence Minister, Manohar Parikkar, has described the incident quite shocking and he made it clear that whether the CRPF men had followed the SOP or not will be unearthed after an inquiry. Like Rajnath Singh Parrikar too wanted to carry out a thorough review of the security scenario in Kashmir so that the security grid within the valley and on the LOC was further upgraded. Meanwhile, troops, guarding the LOC, have been directed to bank on the sophisticated gadgets installed on the border for monitoring the movement of militants across the LOC and initiate measures accordingly. He and the Union Home Minister have asked troops and the paramilitary forces to following the SOP strictly while their convoys are on the move and retaliate with full fury and force if they are hit by even one bullet. But there is need for upgrading the security grid both within the valley and on the LOC and it would be better for Mehbooba to stop talking in terms of peace.
