srinagar, June 28: Legislators of National Conference today created ruckus and staged a walkout from the legislative assembly and accused the BharatiyaJanta Party (BJP) of creating war 'hysteria' in the state.
As soon as the house took up the question hour, the NC legislators led by MLA Nagrota stood up and wanted the attention of speaker Kavinder Gupta. The NC members while referring to the demand of BJP legislators that India should carry out aerial strikes on Pakistan said that the same has led to fear psychosis among the people.
The NC legislators said that the people living in the areas lying close to border with Pakistan are worried since they become soft targets as and when there are skirmishes between India and Pakistan on border near Line of Control (LoC). They demanded that if the situation is such then the state government should come out with a statement so that the position becomes clear to the people.
The NC members said that people living in Arnia, Balakote and other border areas of Jammu division near the LoC are quite worried about their safety following the demand made by the BJP members of carrying out aerial strikes on Pakistan. They said that reports are emanating that some attack would take place on the highway and as such the government should make a statement on the issue.
The BJP legislators countered the NC members and said that both the central and state governments are competent enough to teach a lesson to Pakistan. They said the NC members are trying to score brownie points on the issue and said that these people have no sympathy whatsoever for the people of state.
The NC legislators said that Pakistan resorts to the ceasefire violations whenever BJP governments at centre and state make provocative statements. They said that ceasefire violation is due to the 'obstinate' attitude of the BJP. The NC members said that these statements invite bullets for common people and not leaders.
While the NC members were busy with their protest the BJP legislators retorted and accused the NC of adopting a soft policy towards militants and Pakistan. These members said that BJP will retaliate with double might, if Pakistan 'dared' to create any disturbance in Jammu & Kashmir and India.
Speaker Kavinder Gupta also chipped in and said that India has the capability and capacity to launch an offensive against Pakistan if the neighbouring country carries out any misadventure in the state or anywhere in the country. He asked the NC members to sit down and cooperate in the functioning of the house. Following this the NC members staged a walkout and also raised slogans against the government.
It would be in place to mention here that BJP members had on Monday demanded that Government of India should bomb Pakistan since the neighbouring country is fomenting trouble in the country. The BJP members while condemning the Pampore militant attack said that time has come when a lesson has to be taught to Pakistan since that country is sending militants to the state who subsequently carry out militant attacks.
