Fluid reaction: Health Deptt constitutes team to probe matter

Rajouri, June 29: The reported five cases of reaction to patients after administration of fluid at District Hospital (DH) Rajouri not only created panic among the attendants of patients today afternoon but also compelled to constitute a team of staff members to probe the reason reactions.
As per official sources, Officiating Medical Superintendent, Dr Rakesh has constitutes a team to know the reason behind the reaction of fluid in the district hospital as the same supply has been sent to other hospital in the district and no such incident has been reported from there.
"Medical Superintendent has directed to submit his report soon so that the samples of the injectible injections can be sent to Jammu for re-checking/ testing" said Dr Mohd Younis, CMO.
CMO- Rajouri added that the supply of the saline, causing reactions may be stopped till further directions from the higher authorities.
Reports said that pharmacists and doctors on duty said that the reaction due to fluid took place in the hospital when the patients were administered saline supplied by J&K Medical Supplies Corporation Ltd (JKMSCL) by the staff on the treatment advised by the doctors.
"First year student namely Shakeel Ahmed resident of village Daraj was admitted in the hospital at 8.00 am after suffering from Typhoid. He was normal and responding to the doctor's investigation. "Immediately after he was administrated Dextrose, Pantoprazole etc he started shivering, developed dizziness and breathlessness," said Khursheed Ahmed brother.
"Later the patient owing to his critical stage was referred to Govt Medical College and Hospital (GMC&H) Jammu for specialized treatment," said a doctor on promised anonymity.
Another patient Mohd Ramzan (9) admitted in the hospital suffering from acute Diarrhoea also got reaction of saline administration. He was immediately given Hydrocortisone injection and other medicines and now he is responding to the treatment and is stable" said Mohd Mustaffa, father.
Another patient Imitiaz Begam w/o Alif Din of village Kallalkas also suffered reaction of saline administration and showed dizziness and breathlessness.
She was immediately rushed to the emergency ward and was provided further treatment. At the filing of this report she was under observation in emergency.
Sources said that many patients have suffered reactions after administrated Normal /Sodium Chloride manufactured and supplied by Denis Chemical Laboratories Ltd Chattral (NG) under their batch No16JK02 PO22 with expiry on February 2019 supplied by JKMSCL.
Meanwhile some doctors claimed that reaction could take place to patients either due to allergy to some particular drug given along with saline.
