Early Times Report BARAMULLA, June 30: A joint team of Army and Police today apprehended two Over Ground Workers of Hizbul-Mujahideen militant outfit from Sopore town in north Kashmir. A top level police official said that, "on a tip of information a joint team of Army's 52 Rashtriya Rifles (RR) and Special Operation Group Sopore launched a search operation in Amargarh Sopore resulting in apprehension of the two OGWs. "On specific information about the presence of two Hizb workers in Amargah area of Sopore town, search operation was carried out there after which two OWGs were apprehended when they tried to escape from the house, the official said. The official said that security forces arrested two OGWs of Hizb namely Showkat Ahmed Bhat and Tanveer Ahmed Dar, preventing a major subversion plan of the rebels in the near future. However reliable sources said that both the apprehended persons are believed to be close associates of Hizb Divisional Commander Sameer Ahmad Wani, who was killed in Kupwara district on Tuesday. "Huge arms and ammunition including grenades, RPG rounds, land mines and IEDs have been recovered from the apprehended person's", sources said. Meanwhile Superintendent of Police (SP) Sopore, Harmeet Singh confirmed to early times that, two OWGs were apprehended today in Sopore town, the duo were identified as Showkat and Tanveer of Hizb militant outfit. A case has been registered in this regard and further investigation is going on, SP added.
