JAMMU, June 29: Apropos to the news item published in the Early Times edition dtd June 29 under the heading 'PHE Kathua allots work without inviting tenders ' the concerned department today clarified that the realignment of defunct pipes at Dhalli in Hiranagar, Kathua, was done by the village sarpanch out of his own source.
In statement issued here today, PHE Executive Engineer Kathua said the department had not made any allotment of the said work to anybody.
"Neither any claim was raised nor any payment was made as the reliagnment of defunct pipes in the village was made by the village sarpanch out of his own source," the statement added.
Meanwhile sources said a cabinet minister had asked the PHE Chief Engineer to get the work executed through the sarpanch as it would incur zero cost.
