Staff manhandling case : PHE Employees resent alleged police 'inaction'

Poonch, July 22: Public Health Engineering (PHE) employees have expressed their resentment against police which failed to lodge an FIR pertaining to beating upon a junior and Assistant Engineer in full public view by the employees of AEE Sub Div Mendhar last month. Lambasting the police inaction and hushing up of the case All PHE employees Association Mendhar president Abdul Hamid Khan said two employees were beaten up in full public view by other employees and six among them were identified. "Despite that SHO Gursai has adopted lackadaisical attitude, he alleged. He warned if the police fail to FIR in this case within a period for 4 days, the employees will be forced to stage a state level agitation. They alleged that there was political pressure and due to that police failed to lodge FIR in the case.
Earlier protestors raising anti govt slogans took out protest march from Dak Bungalow to Mendhar Chowk where they staged a massive demonstration. They alleged that there was political pressure and due to that police failed to lodge FIR in the case. On receiving information about protest, the Sub Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Sher Singh, Naib Tehsildar Aftab Hussain and SDPO Shahid Naeem rushed to the spot and tried to pacify with the protestors. Protestors were pacified only when SDM held a meeting with them and directed Police to lodge FIR against the identified accused. Meanwhile District Developmental Commissioner (DDC) MH Malik told Early Times that SDPO Shahid Naeem has been directed to lodge FIR in the case with an immediate effect and submit the report to his office.
