Jammu, July 23: The alleged incompetence or it can be called the negligence on part of officials of Jammu and Kashmir School Education department to project the salaries of teachers-posted in various zones against the shifted posts of teachers-in the budget forwarded to higher authorities, has been depriving more than three dozen teachers of their salaries for the last six months in district Kathua alone.
Teachers posted in various zones of district Kathua informed Early Times that they had joined the Education department in the month of January but so far they have not received even salary of one month. "Our counterparts, who had joined the department with us have been getting salaries but we are still deprived of the same as we were posted against the shifted posts of teachers, causing great inconvenience", a teacher posted in district Kathua, pleading anonymity said.
He further said that when they took up the matter with School Principal, he in turn informed that those teachers, who were posted against the shifted posts, were facing the problem. "During rationalization of the government schools on orders of state government, some posts were shifted to other schools and the teachers, who were posted against the vacant posts are getting regular salary but the approval for shifting of posts was not approved by the state government", the teachers said, as informed by Principal.
Another teacher said that nearly 41 teachers in district Kathua have been posted against the shifted posts and are yet to get even the first salary from the department. "Before shifting of posts, approval from administrative department is necessary but without approval from Finance and Planning department, teachers were posted against shifted posts but no funds have been released by government for the salary of these teachers", an official said, adding the it was the duty of officials posted in CEO office Kathua to keep the salary of those teachers in the budget, but since they had not kept the salary, no funds for salary was released, creating hurdles in release of salary.
ZEO Lakhanpur, Daleep Dhar admitted that the salaries were not released but adding that the CEO has ordered for release of salary of these teachers from the overall cadre budget.
CEO Kathua, Balbir Singh said that he had taken up the matter with the higher officials of department and it was decided to release the salaries of these teachers from the overall cadre budget. "The decision has already been taken and it will take some more days in completion of formalities and the salary will be released", he said, adding that once the salary would be released, there would be regularity in the release of salary of these teachers.
