Transfer of Property Bill

Early Times Report
JAMMU, July 23: It was believed that the central BJP leadership will snub the BJP Ministers in the PDP-BJP-led coalition government for their "most irresponsible" conduct in the Cabinet meetings and state legislature and it happened yesterday. They were, according to insiders, told by BJP national general secretary (organization) Ram Lal that "they (ministers) on several occasions caused embarrassed for the party at the national level by taking things very casually and not going through and understanding the agenda papers".
Without naming any minister, Ram Lal, as per sources very close to one senior BJP minister, said during the meeting held at the official residence of Dy CM Nirmal Singh that "the manner in which the dealt with the transfer of property bill both in the Cabinet meeting and in the legislative assembly not only created an awkward position for the Union Government but also gave a handle to the critics to criticize the party", and added that "that they must be careful in the future and don't take agenda papers lightly".
More importantly, according to an insider, who was privy to the what transpired during the "feedback meeting", "it was not only Ram Lal who snubbed the BJP ministers and took them to task for their conduct but almost all the party leaders and workers expressed their dissatisfaction over the conduct of the ministers and told Ram Lal that there was trust-deficit between them and the party and between them and the party workers". "Legislators were far more critical of the party ministers," the insider further revealed, adding that "it appeared that they were in search of an opportunity to lambaste the BJP ministers, expose them and convince the party high command that their conduct and performance had completely alienated the people and the party workers at the grassroots level from the party and that the party will become totally irrelevant in Jammu in case the party high command didn't intervene".
The insider further revealed that "no minister was in a position to defend himself or justify their conduct and lackluster performance". "The ministers were completely cornered and isolated," the sources said, adding that 'it was doubtful if the BJP ministers would reform themselves as they were interested more in remaining on the right side of the PDP than in the party as they know power flows from Kashmir".
In any case, it will be seen if the BJP ministers change their style of functioning, take up the Jammu-specific issues, not become party to any bill that furthers distance between J&K and the rest of the country and take care of the party workers. For, the message of Ram Lal was: "Perform, take care of the party interests and not become over clever".
